 Attention all Masons

On September 9th, 2017, Oberlin Lodge #380 will be hosting the annual Lorain County Blue Lodge Association Outdoor Raising.  Oberlin Lodge is the only one in the district with an outdoor area where the 2nd Section of the Master Mason Degree can be performed!  Come on out for this once-a-year event and witness the outdoor raising of a new Master Mason!  As you all know, it takes all of the Officers of the Lodge and many others to put on a Master Mason Degree, so we need volunteers for speaking parts, non-speaking parts, and members of the Fellowcraft team.  If you’d like to volunteer for a part or if you have any questions about this event, contact WB Jim Cain at 440-864-3705 or WB Patrick Spears at 440-522-8041.  We’d greatly appreciate any volunteers for parts!

Donuts and coffee will be provided in the morning, as well a lunch in the afternoon after the Degree; both for a voluntary donation.  Dress for this event is business casual, but be mindful of the weather when choosing your footwear for the 2nd Section; last year it was quite muddy out there!  Registration will open at 9:00 AM and the gavel drops for the 1st Section at 9:45 AM sharp!  The address for Oberlin Lodge is 12354 Leavitt Road, Oberlin, OH 44074.

I hope to see lots of brethren at Oberlin Lodge that morning, so be there and be square!

President, LCBLA

Grand Lodge Scholarship Foundation
There have been significant changes made to the Grand Lodge Scholarship Foundation. Beginning this year, there is a new set of procedures that will be used in awarding scholarships from the Foundation. The Foundation will no longer grant scholarships to a list of Ohio colleges, universities and other schools of higher education. Instead, one scholarship will be granted in each of the Masonic Districts in the Grand Lodge of Ohio. Each scholarship will total $2,000.00 and will be paid to the institution of higher education which the recipient is attending. Recipients may be Master Masons or relatives of Master Masons.

Contact your Lodge Officer or your District Deputy Grand Master for more information.

     OBERLIN MASONIC OUTREACH PROGRAM (OMOP):

All donations to the Oberlin Masonic Outreach Program come strictly from designated contributions by Oberlin Lodge brethren and Oberlin Chapter companions. No Lodge or Chapter funds are used.

Donations this year [2013] went to our local Boy Scouts’ council, two bethels of Job's Daughters, and the Masonic Home Care Center in Medina. The Lodge also sponsored a car show at Oberlin Drug Mart on August 10, benefiting the Depot Park Playground for Special Needs Children in Oberlin. This project was first started by Oberlin Lodge in 2001. A donation of $870.00 was given to the City of Oberlin to purchase new playground equipment.

Come out and support your Officers, renew old friendships and meet some great people.
